Second in our series of artist screen print collaborations with the CoLab project space when we operated in Austin Texas, this is a split edition we created with Sarah Welch. Originally from Austin but currently working from Houston, Sarah was familiar with the screen printing process and regularly creates works with printed fabric. She also happens to be an insanely talented draftswoman, who is available for illustration services to the general public.
For her show at CoLab, Sarah wanted to document the events of a road trip through west Texas during the Summer of 2009. Traveling primarily through Big Bend National Park, Sarah Welch, Sarah Crowe, and Graham Austin created a body of work detailing both the sights and feelings contained in the region. This print is itself a translation of a smaller sketch made on that trip, and was displayed alongside a poem also written by the artist.
Produced in a blue color-way and a pastel color-way, this 20″ x 26″ print contains 4 layers and is signed and numbered by the artist.
