With over 18 years of professional experience in print media and visual art, we love to get down into the details on your project and process. One-on-one consultations via phone, webcam, or in person are available at an hourly rate.

For simple projects, a consultation is not always necessary. But we highly recommend them for most printing projects we take on, because it allows us to slow down and discuss all the details with you, while learning more about your priorities for the project. And since we specialize in unique forms of printmaking, the majority of our customers are using risograph, letterpress, or screen printing for the first time.

We've listed some sample ideas for consultations below, but can also put together a custom program for you if it's a good fit for our knowledge and skills.

Print Consultations with James

  • Project Planning

    A deep dive into your printmaking project. We'll talk through the details of your project, and get a practical plan together for the creation, execution, and release of a custom printed art print or zine.

    This is a perfect option for clients unsure about our printing techniques and their suitability for a project. We can also offer suggestions for ways to take an existing project to the next level.

  • Printmaking Advice

    I've worked in printmaking for the majority of my adult life, and I'm happy to share my advice with you. Whether you're considering printmaking as a career, or looking to expand your existing practice to include prints, I would be happy to talk through the details with you.

    Troubleshooting advice is available for letterpress, risograph, and screen printing processes.

    As a self-employed artist, I've had to make my own mistakes along the way. Let me help you avoid dead ends, and look for ways to critique and improve your business.

    I have a special interest in supporting DIY and micro businesses that want to stay small while increasing their impact. And who doesn't need an outside perspective on their practice from time to time?

  • Creative Direction

    If you have an illustration, print, or book project that needs additional input, you can schedule a call with Sarah to discuss the details. Her perspective as an artist will help you to give the project a specific vision and feel that really brings everything together.

  • Portfolio Review

    Need advice from a practicing artist / illustrator? In this consultation, Sarah is available to look over your work and offer one-on-one feedback. Set expectations up front on what you're looking for help with, and then get into the details from her perspective and personal experience as a creative professional.

Consultations begin at $35 per hour, with a minimum billing of one hour.
