In progress drawing of the queen of pentacles

Sarah here. I have entered deep hermit mode. I’ve been chained to my drafting table working on Minor Arcana for our ~*Mystic Multiples Gulf Coast Tarot Deck*~ I know this has been a long time coming. I must admit, I underestimated how much time would be needed for this endeavor. It’s extremely sweaty and humid outdoors in Houston right now. We have been blessed with a healthy monsoon season, but that also means the skeeters are especially viscous and plentiful this year. That makes it the perfect time for sitting at my desk next to a box fan and focusing on the task at hand.

I have now completed most of the wands, cups, and pentacles suits. Currently I am working on swords and trying to get better about tracking my progress (see posts here on instagram).

Not sure why, but the drama of the swords suit is really working for me. I think this is my favorite in the minor arcana. There are so many iconic images to riff on --three of swords for example--and I think that’s motivating me to push ahead. On a good day I can pencil and ink two cards. Hoping to have all the inked drawings complete by September, but of course lots of work in coloring, package design, etc. to look forward to after that.

So as progress continues on the deck, we're starting to plan for our eventual release! Expect to see us launch presale information this Fall, beginning around September/October, with an opportunity to purchase in November.

If everything goes according to plan, we're aiming to distribute the finished decks in Fall of 2026!

Set of all four tarot queen screenprints

Hey, we made some prints! In the process of designing our Gulf Coast Tarot Deck, we've spun off a few of our favorite cards as original screenprints. We could not overlook our noble queens; they set the tone for each suite in the deck with their demeanor, environment, and of course, animal companions.

Each 11”x14” screenprint is printed with light and dark green inks on recycled white paper from French Paper Company. You can read more about the individual queens on our website, and they’re available for $25 each or in a set of all four for $80.

Tomorrow, Sunday July 20th, we'll be in San Antonio for Paper Trail! The event is a roundup of printmakers that happens every Summer at the Rock Box, and goes on from 11am - 7pm. And did you know that this is the 11th year for the event? We’re looking forward to seeing everyone that comes out, and sharing some of our newest work with the fashionable folk of San Antonio.

Banana slug in redwoods national forest and state park

We had the pleasure and privilege of visiting the Redwoods National Park this Summer. It’s been on the bucket list for some years now and the experience did not disappoint. Nothing like an enormous, ancient tree to make you feel like a speck of dust floating along in the universe. My tourist recommendations in short: See “Trees of Mystery,” Cathedral Grove, Fern Canyon, maybe skip the drive-thru tree.

Guadalupe river in Hunt, Texas

We try to see family in the Kerrville area every summer. I have enjoyed swimming in the Guadalupe and visiting the Hunt Store since childhood. We had a quick trip out there in late June, just before the devastating July 4th floods. It has been a real nightmare. There are no two ways about it. If you’re thinking of donating to the relief efforts, Kerr county has set up a fund here:

As always, thanks for reading and supporting us!
